Salt, drought and flood-tolerant paddy seeds distribution program among the farmers was presided over by Bidhuraba Mandal, president of the functioning council of the organization at the LEDARS’ Head Office at 25 June 2019. S.M. Ataul Haque Dolan, Chairman, Upazila Parishad, Shyamnagar, Satkhira presented as the chief guest at the distribution ceremony. the chief guest of the program started his speech by saying. “I thank the Upazila Parishad for distributing free rice seeds among the farmers for bringing in adaptive agricultural systems to tackle climate change. Agriculture needs to be protected in order to stay in sub-coastal areas. The NGO is working for adaptive farming on behalf of the state-run Agricultural Extension Directorate. Mohan Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of the organization said in his speech, ‘We are providing rice and seed vegetables to the suburban areas for adaptive agricultural practices under the Strengthening the Livelihoods Security of Climate Change Risk People ‘funded by Bread for the World. There is no alternative of adaptive agriculture if we want to cope with climate change. These seeds which we have collected from BADC Khulna are not available to the dealers in general. You should not use this seed as food. Clean the seeds by sowing them in the right way. Prior to the program, Assistant Agriculture Officer Mr. Parvez Zaman discussed in detail about the technique of preparation and sowing of seeds for farmers. A total of 20 kg of paddy seeds were provided on the occasion. Among the varieties that were BR 20 BR, BR 32 BR 5 BR.In this occasion, Vice President of the Executive Council of the LEDARS, freedom fighter Master Nazrul Islam, member of the Executive Council Mr. Manobendra Debnath and Mr. Ranjit Barman was presented.
