LEDARS excavating canal for resilient agriculture in coastal area

LEDARS commenced on first canal re-excavation on 25 January 2015 with the support of ‘Bread for the World’ in Munshigonj under Shyamnagar upazilla. Canal re-excavation is a part of implementation of the project named “Strengthening Livelihood Security of Climate Change Vulnerable People”. This program is inaugurated by the Vice Chairman of Shyamnagar Mr. Mohsin-Ul-Mulk which is presided over by Chairman of Munshigonj union Abul Kashem Morol.

Special guests are Vice Chairman (women) Nur Jahan Parvin Jhora, Executive Director of LEDARS Mohon Kumar Mondal, Project Coordinator Md. Mozirul Islam Mithu, President of Canal Management Committee Nirmal Mridha. LEDARS will re-excavate two more canals in two union of Shyamnagar.

The chief guest said that due to the unemployment problem resulted from the decreasing agricultural problem people are leaving this area. He terrified thinking that this area may be banned if the agriculture production has reduced in this manner. He thanked LEDARS taking this kind of initiative for augmentation of cultivable land. The committee president expressing his deep gratitude to LEDARS and said that we will surely increase our cultivable land and change our single cropped land to double cropped. After the ceremony LEDARS sweetened all the gatherings.
