Seed distribution for none-tillage agriculture in saline area of Bangladesh

Every person has to eat 250 grams vegetables per day. In Bangladesh many village fresh vegetables are not available. Shaymnagor Upazilla, most of the villages are not available fresh vegetables due to the salinity. LEDARS is trying to increase food productivity and food security by implementing the project “Strengthening Livelihood Security of Climate Change Vulnerable People”. LEDARS is also trying to increase quality food grains in the fellow land in saline area by introducing none tillage agriculture in dry season. LEDARS distributed vegetables among 472 beneficiaries in 28 climate resilience farmers group’s members at 06 December, 2015.

LEDARS arranged a distribution ceremony in it’s Head Office, Munshiganj, Shaymnagor, Satkhira. The ceremony was presided by Bidhusroba Mandal, President, LEDARS. Mr. Abul Kashem Marol, Chairman, Munshiganj Union Parishad was Chief Guest of the meeting. Md. Abdul Aziz, Assistant Upazilla Extension Officer and Md. Masum Billah, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer, Shaymnagar Upazilla, Mr. Dalim Kumar Gharami, Executive Director, LEDARS were presented as Special Guest in the ceremony. The quantities of the seed were Potato- 1875 kg, Onion-400 kg, Garlic- 100 kg, Corn- 45kg, Wheat-600kg, Pulse- 182kg.
