LEDARS organized a two-day long Capacity Building Workshop on Climate Change and Advocacy in Khulna on 26-27 March 2021. The program was held at conference room of NGO Forum for Public Health, Sonadanga, Khulna with the financial support of Bread for the World.

Mr. Khan Motahar Hossain, Deputy Director of District Social Services Office, Khulna, inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. Mr. Gouranga Nandi, Chief of Bureau, Daily Kalerkantha, Khulna, Professor Md. Rezaul Islam, Agro-technology Discipline, Khulna University, Advocate Poppy Banerjee, Khulna Judge Court, and Mohan Kumar Mandal, Executive Director of LEDARS were present at the inauguration session. M. Nazmul Azam David, Convener of Khulna District Climate Advocacy Forum presided over the inaugural session. The Chief Guest said, “We should be aware of the damage due to climate change in the southwest coastal areas. He urged everyone to work with the LEDARS. He lauded LEDARS for forming a climate advocacy forum at the district level.’’

Major topics of the discussion session were Climate Change Science, Advocacy and Lobbing, Human Rights, Adaptation and Mitigation, COP, Paris Agreement, Role of civil society, etc. Mr. Gaurang Nandi, Khulna Bureau Chief of daily Kalerkantha (Newspaper), Md. Rezaul Islam, Professor of Khulna University, Mohan Kumar Mandal, Executive Director of LEDARS facilitated the workshop. All the Climate Advocacy Forum member attended to the program. After two-day long session a yearly plan has been adopted by Khulna civil society.
