People of southwest coastal area of Bangladesh have been experiencing the negative impacts of climate change. It is increasingly affecting their livelihoods in many ways including food security, malnutrition, income etc. In order to manage the knowledge to increase resilience capacity of coastal people, LEDARS initiated to build a Climate and Adaptation Knowledge Management Center at its head office premises. For this connection, on 5th December 2021, the foundation stone that institution was laid by Mr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Deputy Commissioner, Satkhira. The event was presided over by Mr. Bidhushroba Mondal, Chairman, Executive Committee of LEDARS. Deputy Commissioner, Satkhira was present as the chief guest, Shyamnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer A. N. M. Abuzar Ghiffary was present as a special guest, Upazila Vice Chairman Mr. Saidujjaman Said, and Executive Director (Acting) & Assistant Professor Manabendra Debnath were also present. In his speech the chief guest said, “People in this area are not aware of climate change. Especially the youth of the area are suffering from lack of opportunities to expand their knowledge. They do not get the right direction and opportunity to become proficient in this regard. Local students are less interested in gaining knowledge about climate change, global warming, national and international issues and initiatives against climate change. They do not get proper facilities and information access. In this context, the LEDARS is building a knowledge management center here. Thanks to the leaders for this initiative”
