The South-West coastal areas of Bangladesh are extremely vulnerable for negative climate change effect, where natural disasters are on the rise. Cyclones, tidal surges, embankment breaches, excess rainfall, erratic rainfall, drought and increase in salinity are common companions. The Bagerhat District Climate Change Advocacy Forum was formed to highlight the crisis in the South-West Coastal region at the national level and to realize the rights of the people of the coast. A quarterly coordination meeting of Bagerhat District Climate Change Advocacy Forum was held at Udayan Bangladesh, Khardwar, Bagerhat office on Monday 27 in December at 3:00 pm under the technical assistance of LEDARS. The quarterly coordination meeting was presided by Advocate Sharifa Khanam the Vice President of the Forum, Upazila Vice Chairman (Female), Bagerhat Sadar, Ms. Rizia Parven, Head Teacher (Rtd), Mr. Mukherjee Rabindra Nath, General Secretary of Advocacy CC Forum and Executive Director of Udayan Bangladesh Mr. Sheikh Asaduzzaman, Member and Vice President of Bagerhat Press Club, Ms. Israt Jahan and other members of the Advocacy Forum were also present at the meeting. At the meeting, everyone expressed their views on the impact of climate change on the coastal crisis. A plan for the forum is planned for the next three months. The forum believes that the plan will play a role in realizing the rights of the people of the coast.
