On Sunday (September 25, 2022) at 4:00 pm, in collaboration with the non-governmental development organization LEDARS, Shyamnagar Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum and Kanshimari Union Climate Resilient Forum organized plantation of palm seeds event covering the three kilometers of both side of Sota Canal to protect thunder in Kanshimari Union of Shyamnagar Upazila.

Shyamnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Md. Aktar Hossain inaugurated the palm seed plantation ceremony as the chief guest, President of Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum, Freedom Fighter Master Mr. Nazrul Islam presided the event. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mr. Md. Enamul Islam, Chairman of Kashimari Union Parishad was presented as a special guest. Mr. Gazi Anisur Zaman Anis, Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum, editor, teacher and journalist Mr. Ranjit Burman were also participated in the event. President of Kashimari Union Climate Resilient Forum Mr. Md. Shafiqul Bari, Assistant Agriculture Officer Mr. Jamal Hossain, Monitoring Officer of LEDARS Mr. Ranjit Kumar Mandal along with other members of Union Climate Resilient Forum and members of Climate Resilient Team also participated in the event.

Due to climate change, disasters have been increased. The crisis has increased due to the disasters in the southwest coastal area of Bangladesh. If this crisis is not overcome, the coastal risks will increase day by day. In order to overcome these risks, efforts have been made to plant palm seeds to conserve the coastal environment.

The chief guest said that more trees should be planted to save the environment. Planting palm trees is better for the environment. Everyone should come forward to plant palm trees on both sides of the road in Kanshimari.
