World Water Day enthusiastically observed simultaneously by the District Climate Advocacy Forum of Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira with the slogan to accelerate change to solve the Water and Sanitation Crisis through organizing human chain, mass gathering on last March 22, 2023 organized by LEDARS by the supports of Bread for the World.
Khulna District Climate Advocacy Forum, LEDARS and Water Keepers jointly organized Human Chain and Mass Gathering at Picture Palace More, Khulna to solve the Water and Sanitation Crisis of south-west coastal areas of Bangladesh. Different likeminded organizations including Khulna Paribesh Surokkha Mancha, Humanity Watch, BELA, ChayaBrikkha, Gati expressed their solidarity in this event. This event was presided over by Mahfuzur Rahman Mukul Vice-president of Khulna Climate Advocacy Forum and Regional Coordinator of BELA and moderated by SM Iqbal Hossain Biplob, Regional Coordinator of CPD. The event also addressed among by others includes Mijanur Rahman Babu, Political Ledaer, Advocate Babul Hawladar, Regional Coordinator of BAPA, Advocate Shamima Sultana Silu, Member of Paribesh Sangrakkhan Mancha and Executive Director of MASAS, Mahbub Alam Badsha, Member of Advocacy Forum and Executive Director of ChayaBrikkho, Sariful Islam Selim, Member of Advocacy Forum and General Secretary of Hamanity Watch and so on. All the speakers raised their voice to ensure safe drinking water, conserve natural environment resources and reduce the level of water pollution. Different level of representatives from GO, local government, NGOs, civil society participated and a total of 84 persons including female 30, male 54 participated in this event.
Bagerhat District Climate Advocacy Forum organized a Human Chain and Mass Gathering at VIP Road, Khardar, Bagerhat where the Chief Guest was Joyanto Ghosh, Executive Engineer of Bagerhat DPHE presided over by Mukharje Robindra Nath, Vice-president of Bagerhat District Climate Advocacy Forum. The meeting was also addressed among by others Nihar Ranjan Saha and Israt Jahan, President and Vice-president of Bagerhat Press Club respectively, Shaikh Asad, General Secretary of Forum and Executive Director of Udayan, journalist Md. Azadul Haque. All the speakers raised their voice to ensure safe drinking water, conserve natural environment resources and reduce the level of water pollution. Different level of representatives from GO, local government, NGOs, civil society participated and a total of 107 persons including female 60, male 47 participated in this event.
To solve the water crisis in the south-western coastal zone of Bangladesh, there’s needed a coordinated plan by all. Due to various geographical and man-made reasons, the shortage of fresh water in Bangladesh is increasing day by day. Prawn cultivation in agricultural land and lack of rains are the reasons for the shortage of fresh water. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatema Tuz Zohra expressed this speech as Chief Guest at the World Water Day-2023 Celebration and project Inception Meeting at Satkhira Sadar Upazila Digital Center. Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS delivered his welcome speech while Saiduzzaman Pulak, Project Manager of Swisscontact Bangladesh presented the digital content with project briefing. The event was moderated by Sulata Saha while Abdul Hamid, former Principal and president of district climate change committee, Sheikh Sahidur Rahman, Sadar upazila Social Welfare Officer, Zahidur Rahman, Sadar upazila Secondary Education Officer, Abu Md. Mostofa Kamal, Baikari UP Chairman, Moniruzzaman, Assistant Director of Sushilan, Kollayan Banarjee, News Correspondent of Prothom Alo, Madhab Dutta, Executive Director of Swadesh, Farida Akter Beauty, GDA President, Khelequzzaman, Head Teacher of Choyghoria govt. primary school, Sayedul Arefin, Field Officer delivered their speeches at this event. Different level of representatives from GO, local government, NGOs, civil society participated and a total of 60 persons including female 60, male 47 participated in this event. Another Human Chain and mass gathering to observe World Water Day 2023 also organized at Asasuni upaizla of Satkhira district simultaneously.
