In order to disseminate the innovative adaptation knowledge and skills, Kashimari Union Climate Resilient Forum together in collaboration with LEDARS, organized 02 daylong Innovative Agriculture Fair 2023 at Kathalbaria Saju More, Kashimari union of Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district on April 10-11 April 2023.
The fair was inaugurated by Md. Akhter Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Shyamnagar as Chief Guest and SM Ataul Haque Dolon, Upazila Parishad Chairman were present as Chief Guest at the prize distribution and closing ceremony respectively. Special guests are includes SM Enamul Haque, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Gazi Abdus Salam, Agriculture Extension Officer, Sayeed-uz-Zaman Sayeed, Upazila Vice Chairman, Khaleda Ayub Doli, Upazila Women Vice-Chairman, Anisuzzaman Anich, Kashimari Union Parishad Chairman, Ranjit Kumar Barman, Secretary of Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum were present respectively and the fair was presided over by Debi Ranjan Mondal, Freedom Fighter & Vice-Chairman of Upazila Advocacy Forum, Shyamnagar, Satkhira.
The innovative agricultural fair was organized to use, manage and expand of adaptive agricultural technologies in the coastal areas. The fair demonstrates different types of agricultural tools and techniques utilizing available local resources. Among these notable techniques and methodologies are includes drip irrigation, sorjan method, mulching, mini pond excavation, key-hole garden, rat suppression, organic fertilizer and pest management, disaster resilient house, canal excavation for adaptive agriculture, model house, vegetables without cultivation, kitchen gardening. People from different professions visit different stalls to oversee the exhibitions and express their opinions. A total of 782 persons were mobilized by the event including project beneficiaries, local farmers, students, general public, local elected bodies, other NGO representatives and project staff.
Chief Guests of the inauguration and closing ceremony emphasized and encouraged for the innovative agricultural fair to utilize and expand all the techniques of adaptive agricultural technologies in the coastal areas. Member of General Committee of LEDARS, Ranjit Kumar Barman expressed acknowledgement to the union Climate Advocacy Forum to organize the fair and also thanked all the guests for delivering their important speech in the fair.
The Chief Guest said, ‘No land will be remain as fellow land as per the Honorable Prime Minister emphasized the agriculture sector. In this respect, Union Resilient Forum has organized the fair by the cooperation of LEDARS to demonstrate the adaptive techniques of agriculture. I believe farmers will be practiced the skills and knowledge gained from the innovative agricultural fair. I also expect from LEDARS to increase the working areas so that many other farmer will be benefited from such type of intervention.’
At the end the Chief Guest also distributed the prizes to best stall, best men and women farmers based on their demonstration. Alongside, the guest of the fair also provided prizes to 12 players as the winner of the tug of war.
