LEDARS organized a Project Inception Meeting of Community Based Resilience Women’s Empowerment and Action (CREA) project at Shyamnagar Upazila Conference Room on June 15, 2023 with the financial support of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) and Sweden Embassy. Md. Akhter Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Shyamnagar Upazila was the Chief Guest in this meeting and the meeting was presided over by S.M. Ataul Haque Dolan, Upazila Parishad Chairman, Shyamnagar, Satkhira. Mr. Sayeed-uz-Zaman Sayeed, Upazila Vice Chairman, Ms. Khaleda Ayub Doli, Upazila Women Vice-Chairman, Mr. Nazrul Islam, Chairman and GM Abdur Rouf Panel Chairman of Burigoalini UP, Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS, freedom fighter Md. Nazrul Islam, President of LEDARS was present as Special Guest in this event. The meeting also addressed by others including Md. Nazmul Huda, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Mr. Mukul Hossain, President of CPP, and representatives of civil society organizations and journalists. Mr. Mohon Kumar Mondal delivered welcome speech on behalf of LEDARS. Md. Azadul Islam, Project Coordinator of CREA presented details of the project in the meeting. He also mentioned that the project aims to increase the resilience of vulnerable communities and build women’s leadership capacity to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The Chair of this meeting S.M. Ataul Haque Dolan expressed his best wishes for the success of CREA project implementing by LEDARS and assured the cooperation from Upazila Parishad in implementing the project. He said, ‘if the project implement effectively, will pave the way for the empowerment of disadvantaged women along with improving the quality of life of the climate-affected coastal people.’
