Due to climate change the coastal crisis is increasing gradually than ever. Therefore, all the members of the Bagerhat Climate Advocacy Forum have demanded that the government to take urgent measures to resolve this crisis. This demand was raised in the half-yearly coordination meeting organized by Bagerhat District Climate Advocacy Forum in collaboration with the LEDARS at Bagerhat Udayan Bangladesh Meeting Room on 23 September 2023. Mr. Mukherjee Rabindra Nath, President of the Forum presided over the meeting while Md Asaduzzaman Sheikh General Secretary, Mr. Ashraful Islam Monir, Treasurer, Ms. Kakoli Sarkar Agriculture Affairs Secretary, Member and Journalist Azadul Haque, Advocate Luna Siddiqui, Member, Mr. SK Hasib, Member, Sheikh Ajmal Hossain, Member of the Forum and others were present in this meeting. All the speakers in this meeting highlighted the current situation of the coast and emphasized that climate change is one of the biggest challenges for humanity now-a-days. The south-west coastal region of Bangladesh is the most vulnerable due to this climate change. In this situation, a long-term greater plan is needed to protect the south-west coastal area by declaring this area as a special zone. For this reason, they demanded strongly to include their specific demands for the people of the South-West coastal region in the election manifestos of different political parties in the upcoming national parliamentary elections. In addition, the action plan of this Forum has been prepared in this meeting to play effective advocacy role on behalf of the coastal people and hope that their activities will play an effective role in protecting the rights of coastal people.
