50% of our labor force in agriculture are women, but it is not recognized. Moreover, though farmers are contributing food production increase in Bangladesh but there has no any law for Right to Food. LEDARS and PROGATI organized a roundtable meeting to raise the demand to national level with support of Bread for World, KHANI and Action Aid Bangladesh. The roundtable meeting was held at 22 October 2016 in Satkhira Press Club, Satkhira. Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) Advocate Mustofa Lutfullah was the chief guest of the meeting. The programs were presided over by the Mr. Abul Kalam Azad, President of Satkhira Press Club, Satkhira.
The program moderator was Mr. Ashek-E-Elahi Secretary of PROGOTI Satkhira. Mr. Mohon Kumar Mondal Executive Director of LEDARS were presented the Supplements on that day that is to say “we want to recognize the rights of women workers and right to food law” The special guest was the Mr. M. Kamruzzaman Secretary of Stakhira Press Club, Mr. Kollyan Banarzee correspondent of Daily Prothom Alo. Upazila Agriculture officer and Upazila food officer of Satkhira sadar, Satkhira. Shamol Kumar Biswas chief executive of CEDO. Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman News Editor of Dakkhiner Moshal daily news paper, Ms. Josna Datta General Secretary of Mohila Parishad Satkhira and representative of several NGO’s were present there. The chief guest said that, we need right to food law to ensure the food availability to all people in Bangladesh. Simultaneously we have to rise for the rights of women labor in the agricultural and other informal sectors for the dignified life and livelihood. If we can do that, women will return their rights, agriculture production will increase and which will increase their earnings and food security. He will also committed to us that he will raise the issue in the Parliament and demand rights of women workers and right to food law.
