LEDARS organized a two-day long training for CPP members on gender-sensitive disaster response at the CDIO Office hall room of Kalbari bazar, Burigoalini, Shyamnagar, Satkhira on February 06-07, 2024. Under the Community-based Resilience, Women’s Empowerment and Action (CREA) project supported by Manusher Jonno Foundation and the Embassy of Sweden. The objective of this training was to improve the skills of CPP members in gender-sensitive disaster response. In two day-long training, the schedule went through these sessions. Meaning of gender, the concept of gender and society, Climate change, disasters and calamities, Gender inequality in disasters, Gender and social norms in the experience of coastal dwellers, Women and Child-Friendly Disaster Management and our expectation, enhancing gender sensitivity, etc.
Mr. Mohibulla, CPP leader of the Padmapukur Union of Shyamnagar, Satkhira, and Office assistant of the Upazila CPP office conducted the training.
Mr. Haji Nazrul Islam, Chairman of Burigoalini Union Parishad, was present as the chief guest in the closing session of this two-day training. Md. Arifur Rahman, Project Coordinator, CREA project, LEDARS, and Mr. Billal Hossain, Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer were also present at the closing ceremony of the training.
At the closing session, the chief guest Haji Nazrul Islam said, LEDARS organized a timely training in cooperation with the Manusher Jonno Foundation and the Embassy of Sweden. He told the trainees that the CPP is working for the humanity of the people of this south-west coast even risking their lives during the calamity. These engagements will be smart if you can conduct women-friendly disaster response activities. He thanked LEDARS, Manusher Jonno Foundation, and the Embassy of Sweden and expressed hope to support all activities of the project.
