LEDARS organized The Yearly Retreat-2024 with the financial support of “Bread for the World” from February 20, 2024, to February 22, 2024, at Cox’s Bazar. The main event was organized at the conference hall of the Impulse Ocean View resort. Mr. Bidhusroba Mondal, a current member of LEDARS’ General Committee and retired Principal and former Chairman of LEDARS chaired the event. Assistant Professor Manabendra Debnath, Teacher and Journalist Ranajit Kumar Barman, Treasurer Sujata Rani Mistry, LEDARS Executive Director Mohon Kumar Mondal, all LEDARS officers and employees and their families were also present at the event.
The program was organized in two phases. In the 1st phase, there was a detailed discussion and display of various projects by LEDARS, a quiz competition about the project activities, drama based on LEDARS activities, a raffle draw and in the 2nd phase, at the end of the discussion meeting, awarding of crest and certificate to the best employee of 2023, prize distribution and dinner. Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS gave a welcome speech on the occasion. He thanked the retreat organizers. He said LEDARS always tries to do quality work. LEDARS are and will always be with the people. He also said that the main objective of this event is to review the work of the last year and learn from our achievements and mistakes, if any, to try to improve the work ahead. Manabendra Debnath in his speech said that LEDARS’ biggest achievement in 2023 was getting the Zayed Sustainability Award through which the reputation of LEDARS’ work has been recognized internationally. He expressed this optimism in his speech that LEDARS will do better than other NGOs in terms of quality of work.
At the event, the chief guest handed over the award and certificate to LEDARS’ best employee 2023 Md. Raihan Kabir, Head of Accounts. Based on last year’s work, a quiz competition is held and prizes were distributed to the top 5 in the quiz. Besides, 8 people were awarded in the raffle draw. The Chief Guest said, “I am very happy to attend the Yearly Retreat of LEDARS. We have been and will continue to be involved in all LEDARS activities. The work that the LEDARS are doing for the development of poor people is truly commendable. Hope LEDARS will go further with good work. Also, as part of keeping the environment safe and beautiful in Cox’s Bazar, a beach cleaning was organized followed by a human chain calling for keeping the temperature within 1.5 degrees Celsius.
