LEDARS has organized a daylong Training Workshop for district level media personnel on Climate Change dated on 15 September 2017 in Center for Coastal Climate Resilient (C3R) at Munshigonj, Shyamnagar, Satkhira under the Project of “Strengthening Livelihood Security of Climate Change vulnerable People”. Total 30 journalists from Satkhira District Press Club and Shyamnanar Upazila Press Club those who are working in different national level print and electronic media has participated in this Workshop. Mr. Mohsin-UL-Mulk-Upazila Chairman (Acting) was the chief guest and Md. Abul Kalam Azad, President of Satkhira Press Club and editor of Daily Patradoot was special guest of the inaugural session. The session was presided over by Mr. Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS.
Mr. PalashAhshan, News Editor, of 71 TV, Mr. Nikhil ChondraVadra, senior reporter of daily Kaler Kontho, and Ms. Shakila Parvin Ruma, Editor of Parliament News BD.Com and Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director were facilitate the sessions. Climate change and vulnerability in coastal area, salinity, climate migrants, gender and climate and climate change reporting was the major subject of the sessions. Besides this a participatory session was held to identify the local issue for coastal area. Participants selected the top 10 issues to reporting in future have. Those are salinity, river bank erosion, drinking water scarcity, health risk, water logging, unplanned shrimp farming, change of agriculture pattern, migration, changing occupation, discrimination in climate fund distribution, etc.

At the evening a cultural event and a solidarity dinner were held in the training venue. Training participants, Government Officers, local Government representatives were present in the dinner.
