LEDARS organized a human chain to demand an end to violence against women and children under the Community-based Resilience Women’s Empowerment and Action (CREA) with the support of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) and the Embassy of Sweden. With the slogan “Billions of people stand against the violence of women” the human was held on February 11, 2024 at Datinakhali of Burigolini union, Shyamnagar, Satkhira. The event was conducted by Sulata Rani Saha, Project Officer of the CREA project, LEDARS.
Mr. Abiar Sardar, UP member of Burigolini Union Parishad, was the chief guest in the human chain. Md. Arifur Rahman, Project Coordinator of the CREA project, and Mr. Billal Hossain, Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) officer were also present at the event.
Mst. Muslima Khatun spoke on behalf of Burigoalini people. She said family violence or violence against women is due to scarcity. However, violence against women and children is also happening for other reasons. If we all men and women are aware, this torture and violence will stop.
Mr. Abiar Sardar, said that violence against women and children has taken a terrible shape in our country. Along with government and non-governmental organizations, we also need to be aware only then they will stop. A request to all those present at today’s human chain – call the hotline if you see any apprehension of violence against women or children. Explain to local people or family. There will be a solution if everyone wakes up against violence against women. I would like to thank LEDARS for organizing this event. We are with you in all the good works of the society.
