Under the project Empowering Women through Civil Society Actors in Bangladesh (EWCSA), LEDARS facilitated to organize 03 drama shows and cultural program to raise awareness of community people about the rights of domestic workers and women shrimp workers
The cultural events were organized on 30-31 May-01 June 2023 under the project of Empowering Women through Civil Society Actors in Bangladesh (EWCSA), funded by OXFAM Bangladesh and European Union. The shows were organized respectively at Shib Mondir of in Atulia Union, Majhirpara Kali Mondir Field in Burigoalini Union and Central Govt. Primary School ground of Munshigonj Union. The drama demanded fair wages ‘(Najjo Mojuri Chai)’ of male and female domestic workers. Banashree Mitra Niyogi, Director, Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS at Munshigonj union along with respective representatives of Union Parishads including Renuka Rani Mondal at Atulia Union, GM Abdur Rouf, Panel Chairman of Burigoalini Union were present during these shows. Most of them expressed their solidarity through their speech as guest to ensure the equal rights and dignity of women. The drama show and cultural program attracted the viewers and sensitized the civil society actors and community leaders. People from different professions in these areas enjoy the drama and cultural program. Everyone enjoyed the play and hoped that women shrimp workers would be able to claim their rights one day and they will live with dignity in society. A total of 1150 people including men and women enjoyed the drama and cultural program.
