Drinking water is a major concern in the Southwest coastal area of Bangladesh. The frequency of the cyclone has been increasing in these areas that are effecting negatively to increase the drinking water scarcity. Drinking water crisis has been increased significantly in the cyclone Amphan affected area due to contamination of salt water. Based on the needs of the cyclone-affected population, different govt. non-govt. the organization, local government organizations are supporting the food and hygiene materials but affected people`s health hazards increasing for drinking water crisis.
LEDARS has supplied drinking water to Amphan affected people in Shyamnagar and Assasuni Upazila of Satkhira district to solve the severe water crisis. 1500 cyclone Amphan affected families received drinking water continuously for 40 days on an average 20-30 liter every day. The water supply program has been implemented by financial assistance of Germany base donor organization, Bread for the World and a Photo Journalist Mr. Abir Abdullah.
