Background
Climate change is now an apple of discord throughout the world. People believe it or not, it is scientifically proved that climate is changing and the negative impact of Climate Change increases the appearance of violent weather phenomena, drought, fires, the death of animal and plant species, flooding from rivers and lakes, the creation of climate refugees and destruction of the food chain and economic resources, especially in developing countries.
A total 24 number of global climate conference has taken place from Barlin Conference, 1995 to Poland conference 2018. Global leaders have signed several numbers of agreements on reduction on carbon emission, lass and damage, disaster mitigation, compensation etc. The most important Paris Agreement is not in threatened because of USA’s withdrawal from that. But most of the global leader is keeping their commitment. Poor, LDC and other developing countries and nations suffering much, but no fruitful initiatives have been found to save the vulnerable communities. To save the only earth and future generation, it is essential to do something now. World leaders have no headache to the people who are living in miserable life in poorer countries like Bangladesh. We Bangladesh are innocent victims of Global Climate Change.
Greta Thunberg a 16-years old Swedish school student, protested outside of Sweden parliament for immediate action on climate change. From then, she became known as a climate activist and raised a storm of protest at the Climate Conference in Poland in 2018. She has created the new organization ‘Fridays for Future’. By responding to her urges for protecting the environment, she has brought the people of the world in a single platform to save the environment and “Global Climate Action Week” was observed throughout the world. With the solidarity with global campaign, LEDARS have also observed the Climate Action Week demanding climate justice in south western coastal area of Bangladesh. LEDARS observed the week from 20-27 September 2019.
