Half-yearly Coordination Meeting of Assasuni Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum held

Half-yearly Coordination Meeting of Assasuni Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum was held on September 19, 2023 at Muktijoddha Complex of Assasuni by the support of LEDARS. The meeting was presided over by Mr. Abdul Hannan, President of Assasuni Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum and was moderated by Tomalika Mollick, Advocacy Officer of LEADRS. Mr. Mohonta Kumar Haldar, Ms. Minoti Rani Roy, Kollayni Sarker Vice-president of the Forum, Md. Humayun Kabir, Member of the Forum delivered their speeches in this meeting.

The meeting reviewed and analyzed their previous 6 month’s action plan and also discussed about the next 6 month’s action plan of this Forum. All the speakers of this meeting emphasized advocacy initiatives focusing climate change. By the side, they emphasized to include some demands for the development of the people of the south-west coastal region in the election manifesto of political parties one the eve of upcoming 12th National Parliament Election. Speakers mentioned that the south-west coastal area of Bangladesh is very vulnerable due to climate change where natural disasters are increasing at an alarming rate. Everyone expressed their solidarity to work together to address the crisis of this areas due to the effect of climate change. Moreover, an action plan of the Forum is developed for the next 6 months. All the speakers of the Forum hope that the plan will play a valuable role in protecting the rights of coastal people.
