Half-yearly Coordination Meeting of Upazila Climate Advocacy Forum of Shyamnagar was held on September 17, 2023 at Shyamnagar branch office of LEDARS. The meeting was presided over by Master Nazrul Islam, Freedom Fighter and was moderated by Shampa Biswas, Senior Field Facilitator of LEDARS. Mr. Debi Ranjan Mondal, Vice-President of the Forum, Mr. Ranjit Kumar Barman, General Secretary of the Forum and Mr. Manobendra Debnath, Advocacy Secretary of the Forum delivered their speech in this meeting. The action plan of the Forum was discussed and analyzed in the meeting focusing to the climate change advocacy. At the same time, in the upcoming twelfth national election, the election manifesto of various political parties is also highlighted to include some demands for the development of the people of the south-west coastal region.

Mr. Mohan Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS delivered his speech in this meeting. He specified that Satkhira region is very vulnerable due to climate change. Therefore, the government needs to declare the Satkhira region as a special area or a disaster risk area and initiate a master plan to address these problems. Besides, an action plan of the Forum is developed for the next 6 months. All the speakers of the Forum hope that the plan will play a valuable role in protecting the rights of coastal people. Representatives of LEDARS including Md. Alim Al Razi, Program Manager, Nurul Mostafa Kamal Jafri, Project Coordinator, Tomalika Mollick, Advocacy Officer with many others were also present in this meeting.
