LEDARS established a 5 KM Pipeline for drinking water in coastal area.

To address the crisis of safe drinking water, a pipeline water supply system has beeninaugurated across a five-kilometer area in Shyamnagar, Satkhira. On Wednesday,March 27, the water supply initiative, implemented by LEDARS, was officially inaugurated by SM Ataul Haque Dolon, Member of Parliament for Satkhira-4, through apipeline constructed in Uttar Kadamtala with funding from donor agencies SwisscontactBangladesh and the Zayed Sustainability Prize of the United Arab Emirates.The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Shyamnagar Upazila ExecutiveOfficer Najibul Alam. In his speech, SM Ataul Haque Dolon stated, “Several initiativeshave been taken by both the government and non-government sectors to resolve thesafe water crisis in this saline coastal area. However, most of the efforts rely onrainwater. In this situation, providing safe drinking water through a pipeline is a timelyinitiative. This will benefit the people across the five-kilometer area.”Other speakers at the inauguration event included LEDARS Executive Director MohonKumar Mondal, Swisscontact Bangladesh’s H2O Project Manager Md. SauduzzamanPulak, LEDARS President and freedom fighter Md. Nazrul Islam, and Sundarban Girls’School Assistant Teacher Ranjit Kumar Barman.
