LEDARS established and inaugurated a water desalination plant to remove drinking water crisis in coastal area with financial support of Peterson Controlunion at 31 March 2022. The desalination plant (Reverse Osmosis) was inaugurated by Mr. Md. Aktar Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Shyamnagar, Satkhira.
Climate change has exacerbated the acute water crisis in southwestern Bangladesh. Rising salinity has exacerbated the crisis. Since long, the people of the Fultola village have been depriving from the fresh drinking water, causing salinity in the ground water and surface water. Usually, they carried the water from 2/3 kilometer away from their house, which creating the health hazard and consuming huge time. To fulfill their unmet need LEDARS under the financial support of Peterson Controlunion established a water purifying plant. Through this water desalination plant, it supposed to supply 5,000 liters of potable water to the people every day. An inauguration session was held to open the plant among the villagers.
