We’re thrilled to share that LEDARS has launched a pioneering Climate Change Loss and Damage project in Asasuni upazila of Satkhira district, Bangladesh! Our project kickoff workshop at Officer’s Club Asasuni on May 14, 2024, was a resounding success, bringing together key stakeholders to disseminate project information and brainstorm innovative ideas to combat climate change-induced loss and damage in one of the most vulnerable areas of coastal Bangladesh. Presided over by the esteemed freedom fighter, Mr. Abdul Hannan, and graced by the presence of Mr. Rony Alam Nur, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Asashuni upazila Satkhira, as Chief Guest, the event was an inspiring display of collective commitment.
Funded by Christian Aid Bangladesh, this pilot project aims to empower communities and foster resilience in the face of climate adversity. Special guests including Upazila Agriculture and Senior Fisheries Officers, Social Welfare Officers, Women & Child Affairs Department officers, UP Chairman of Asashuni Sadar, and Protapnagar union, joined us to champion this cause. Mr. Samsuzzaman, representing Christian Aid Bangladesh, delivered a stirring address on Humanitarian and Resilience Building, setting the tone for collaborative action.
We were honored to have vulnerable community members, NGO representatives, media personnel, and civil society members join us, emphasizing the inclusive nature of our efforts.
