Wheel of Moriam’s Family has started to run with sewing machine

Ms. Moriam Begum (35) living in Uttor Kadamtala village of Munshigonj Union, Shyamnagar Upazilla of Satkhira district. She was maintaining a family with three members including her husband and one daughter. They are living here in her 4 decimals land. Day labor was the prime profession of her family. Her husband had to go to far away for selling labor to brick fields. That time Ms. Moriam feels unsecured, sometime fall in trouble condition and strive with her kids.

LEDARS implementing a project entitled “Strengthening Livelihood Security of Climate Change Vulnerable People” with the support of Bread for the World, Germany. One objective of this project is to increase income of climate vulnerable people through Alternative Income Generating Activities. In 2013 Moriam Begum involved as member of “Bina-8” Climate Resilient Group (CRG) from Kadamtala village of Munshigonj Union. She regularly attains the fortnightly mobilization meeting and another project related activities. She received 25 daylong training on tailoring. After training LEDARS provide grant for buying a Sewing Machine and Cloths for entrepreneurship development. After that she established a tailoring shop with a sewing machine and cloth in her home.

Now she is a success entrepreneur of tailoring and cloth business. In 2014 she started earning from her business. She is increasing her income gradually. Now she earns 3,500 – 4,000 taka in every month. Till now she saved 63,000 after fulfilling family demand. Her daughter is studying in school. Her husband needn’t desperately hunting other work in far distance’s brick filed. She is grateful to LEDARS for support. Ms. Moriam is very happy now and she thanks to LEDARS to support for establish a business. She wants to establish a big shop in Munshigonj market.
