LEDARS organized 02 daylong organization management and leadership development training in order to enhance the knowledge and skills of the Union Climate Resilient Forum at Center for Coastal Climate Resilient on last 17-18 April, 2023 where 26 representatives Union Climate Resilient Forums of 5 Unions respectively Gabura, Munshigonj, Ishwaripur, and Kashimari of Shyamnagar Upazila and Daskhin Betkashi unions of Koyra Upazila participated.

The training was inaugurated by Asim Kumar Mridha Chairman of Munshigonj Union Parishad and presided over by Mohon Kumar Mondal while the special guest was Babita Rani Mondal, Member of General Committee of LEDARS on 17 April 2023. Besides, representatives of LEDARS were also present at that time. On the other hand, the closing ceremony of the training was held on April 18 was also presided over by Mohan Kumar Mandal, Executive Director of LEDARS while the Chief Guest was S. M. Ataul Haque Dolan, Upazila Parishad Chairman, Shyamnagar and the special guest were Dhananjay Kumar Mistry, former Headmaster of Tripani Secondary School and President of Munshiganj Union Climate Tolerance Forum, Haridas Halder and Nipa Chakraborty, UP Member of Munshiganj Union were also present. Union wise action plans are developed for each union on coastal issues through this training. Each participant is given an official bag at the end of the training. The Chief Guest articulated, “The two-day training provided by LEDARS proved once again that education has no age. If you want to know, knowledge increases. LEDARS organized this training to improve skills on climate change. Leaders are working to advance people affected by climate change. That’s why I congratulate the LEDARS for this kind of work.”

The effects of climate change are manipulating the people of southwest coastal region of Bangladesh towards different various crises and vulnerabilities. People’s collective voices for the demands are needed to address these problems. If these demands can be raised at the national and international level, then the area for solving the problem of the coast will be ensured. In this respect, Union Climate Resilience Forums can play a crucial role in presenting those demands at the national level on behalf of the affected people.
