Rain water harvesting system remove drinking water scarcity of 139 tiger widows families

Shyamnagar Upazila under Satkhira District of south-western coastal Bangladesh is one of the water crisis areas of the country. Due to salinity, rainfall shortage, salinity in ground water, people have been suffering drinking water crisis. Especially the tiger victims’ widows are most vulnerable segment of the community who are living hand to mouth and not able to purchase of rainwater from market. Considering the miserable condition of tiger widows, LEDARS installed 139 rain water harvesting systems to tiger widows families with full set up of roof. This activities has been implemented under the project ‘Creating Access to Pure Drinking Water for the Climate Vulnerable Community in AILA affected area of Satkhira District’ funded by CFLI, High Commission of Canada, Dhaka Bangladesh.
