Cash support provided to climate vulnerable people to strengthen the alternative livelihoods activities

LEDARS provided cash support to 60 women headed families. The inauguration program was held in LEDARS head office at 4 September 2018. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Kamruzzaman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Shyamnagar Upazila. Mr. UNO said that Bangladesh is going to be a country of middle income and changing rapidly by the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He also said that LEDARS is working with climate vulnerable people in the agriculture, water and education sector with good reputation. The climate of the earth has been changing gradually due to reducing the environmental balance and southwest coastal zone is the most vulnerable area in Bangladesh. With a view to reduce climate change hazards, LEDARS has taken initiative to provide cash support to promote AIGA to the climate vulnerable people. Mr. Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director and founder of LEDARS presided over the program and delivered welcome speech. He described LEDARS activity at a glance and clarify the objective of the program. He said that the cash support is providing to the beneficiaries as an incentive to create alternative livelihood activity. Mr. Parvez Jamal, SAAO, Mr Akbor Ali Par, Panel Chairman of Munshigonj Union and Mr. Abdul Rouf, Panel Chairman of Burigoalini Union, Mr. Danesh Mondal, Upazila Coordinator, CCDB, Mr. Shahidul Islam, Manager CNRS were also took part in the program. After the formal speech delivery chief guest was distributed some cash money to the beneficiaries. LEDARS has been working with climate vulnerable people with a view to reduce climate change vulnerability through initiating climate change adaptation activities. The cash has been distributed under “Strengthening Livelihood Security of Climate Change Vulnerable People” program funded by Bread for the World. Besides this, LEDARS distributed cash grant support to 90 tiger widows families previously of this event.
