World Environment Day-2017 which slogan is “Connecting People to Nature” has been observed by Upazila Administration, LEDARS, World Vision, NGF, Shushilan, Friendships & IDF jointly. A decorated rally has been held in the street. After rally, a discussion meeting of Word Environment Day was held at Upazila Administration Hallroom, Sheikh Abdullah Sadid, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (In charge) was the Chair on the occasion. Government officials, students, development activist and civil society are participated in the rally and discussion. Mr. S.M. Mohsin-Ul-Mulk, Upazila Chairman (In charge), Shyamnagar Upazila Parisad, Shyamnagar, Satkhira was present in the meeting as the Chief Guest. Mohon Kumar Mondal, Executive Director of LEDARS, Md. Lutfor Rahman, Executive Director of NGF, representative from other NGOs were present in the meeting as the Special Guest. Main focus of the discussion were about the nature of coastal ecology, environment, sustainable natural resource management, conservation of Sundarban, etc. The occasion has been end through the oath of ‘Environment Conservation at Shyamnagar’.
