LEDARS organized a rally, human chain and dialogue meeting to observe World Water Day-2019 focusing the theme was “Leaving No One Behind”. Climate Change impacts are clearly visible in the coastal area of Bangladesh. Saline water intrusion, climatic disasters (i.e. cyclones, drought, tidal surges, salinity and so on). Fresh water crisis is one of the major problems in the coastal area. People cannot practice agriculture, cannot grow crops, rearing dairy & poultry, and the drinking water crisis is acute. People are suffering with various water borne diseases. Women and adolescents have to go far even more than 2/3 kilometers for collecting drinking water. Every people in the coastal area have to optimum use of every drop of water. To raise awareness of the community peoples and policy actors, LEDARS organized World Water Day 2019 in the Sundarbans Girls High School, Shyamnagar, Satkhira. Student and teachers of Sundarbans Girls High School, local women, girls and civil society members were present in the program. Md. Abul Kashem Morol, Chairman Munshiganj Union Porishod was chief guest of the event. Md. Abdur Rouf, Panel Chairman, Burigoalini Union Porishad and Md. Akbar Ali Par Panel Chairman Munshiganj Union Porishad Head teacher of Sundarban Girls School were special guest of the event. All of the participants discuss about water, water crisis and Climate Change induced water problems and how to resolve the water problems in the area. Project Coordinator Mr. Ranajit Kumar Mondal give speech about the water crisis and how people are suffering for water. The Executive Director Mr. Mohon Kumar Mondal give speech about the water scenario in world, national and coastal area perspective, he emphasized especially on drinking and irrigation water and draw attention from the authorities in national and international level.
