Named after the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the prize reflects his commitment to environmental stewardship, innovation, and humanitarian efforts. The Zayed Sustainability Prize recognizes outstanding contributions across various categories, including Health, Food, Energy, Water and Global High Schools. It rewards organizations, businesses, and schools that implement innovative and scalable solutions to address pressing global challenges in sustainability. In 2023, LEDARS was honored with the Zayed Sustainability Prize in the Water category, recognizing its remarkable efforts in improving water security and resilience in climate-affected regions.

Scaleup Water Initiative: Scale up Water Initiative is a comprehensive program aimed at enhancing access to clean and
safe drinking water, particularly in disaster-prone and water-scarce areas. The initiative focuses
on sustainable water solutions through bio-sand filter production and distribution, portable
reverse osmosis systems, and renewable energy-powered water purification and packaging. It
also promotes water enterprise development, supports innovative solutions like Water on
Wheel (WoW) for efficient water distribution, and emphasizes water education to build
community awareness and resilience. By integrating technology, business models, and
education, Scale up Water Initiative works to ensure long-term water security for vulnerable
populations.
Scaleup Resilient Agriculture, food security and livelihood: Scaleup Resilient Agriculture, Food Security, and Livelihood is an initiative designed tostrengthen climate-resilient farming, enhance food security, and improve livelihoods in
vulnerable communities. The program focuses on saline-tolerant seed preservation and
distribution, resilient irrigation systems, and the establishment of an agro laboratory to support
farmers with research and innovation. It also promotes organic food processing, organic
fertilizer and pesticide production, and ecotourism as a sustainable livelihood option. By
integrating modern agricultural practices with environmental sustainability, this initiative
empowers communities to adapt to climate challenges while ensuring long-term food security
and economic stability.
