To mark World Water Day, LEDARS has taken a meaningful step toward addressing the drinking water crisis in coastal Bangladesh. On 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, a discussion and rainwater system materials including water tank distribution event was held at the Batiaghata Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Khulna, with the generous support of the donor agency LIFE.

🌿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲–𝗩𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
As part of this initiative, 𝟱𝟬 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 in Batiaghata Upazila of Khulna District received high-quality water tanks and roofing materials to support 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 –a sustainable solution to salinity and safe water scarcity in coastal areas. It is mentioned that in 2026, LEDARS will distribute 196 Rainwater System at the households’ level, 2 rainwaters at community level (30,000 liter each) and dig 97 small ponds to preserve the rainwater. This initiative is implemented in 6 upazilas of Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts.

The program was honored by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗿𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗨𝗽𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗡𝗶𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗵𝗶 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 (𝗨𝗡𝗢), as the Chief Guest. He highlighted the 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and encouraged community-driven solutions.

The event began with a welcome speech by 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗮, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗘𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗦 Khulna Regional Office, and was skillfully moderated by 𝗕𝗶𝗸𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘀, 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 of LEDARS.

This initiative reflects LEDARS’ commitment to ensuring 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 for vulnerable coastal communities. Promoting rainwater harvesting is not just a solution it is a pathway toward dignity, health, and sustainability.
