LEDARS is implementing 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲 aiming to promote alternative livelihood of the Sundarbans dependent people, promoting resilient agriculture and create mangrove afforestation to develop carbon storage and protect embankment from Sea Level Rise and tidal waves. As part of the 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, LEDARS is working in the Sundarbans impact zone to protect the environment and support the forest-dependent communities through sustainable, alternative livelihoods.

🌱 On June 3, 2025, LEDARS organized a 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 at the Shyamnagar Upazila Hall, where 10 Sundarbans-dependent women received grants to launch 𝗲𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲-𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. These initiatives are designed to:
✅ Empower women economically
✅ Reduce pressure on the Sundarbans ecosystem
✅ Promote climate-resilient and green livelihoods
✅ Foster local environmental stewardship

🎤 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻, 𝗨𝗽𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗡𝗶𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗵𝗶 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 (𝗨𝗡𝗢), was the Chief Guest of the event. She remarked: “This kind of initiative is not only about empowering women — it also plays a vital role in protecting our environment. Involving local women is a key strategy to conserve the Sundarbans.”

👩‍🌾 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝗸𝗵𝗮 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗻, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗘𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗦, chaired the event and shared:
“We believe sustainable development requires awareness and alternative livelihoods. These women are not just earning — they are becoming champions of conservation.”

💼 The grants supported trades such as:
• Poultry rearing
• Organic vegetable cultivation
• Small-scale eco-friendly businesses

💚 Through the 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁, LEDARS is committed to expanding this model to more families — reducing ecological stress on the Sundarbans while lifting people out of poverty and building climate resilience.
