Renewable energy goes beyond being a mere trend; it has become an imperative in
addressing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. Advocates, such
as CSOs, are fervently advocating for the adoption of renewable energy in Bangladesh.
LEDARS, a local NGO situated amidst the Sundarbans mangrove forest, has been
actively engaged in climate change initiatives since its establishment in 2003. Notably,
the organization is dedicated to establishing a green campus in a remote coastal area.

In pursuit of this commitment, LEDARS has recently implemented a 20 KW solar power
system on its premises, accompanied by the installation of 10 solar streetlights.
Additionally, energy-efficient lighting, electronic equipment, and inverter AC’s have been
incorporated into the office building and dormitory. Remarkably, the entire campus now
operates solely on solar energy. The overarching objective is to transform the LEDARS
campus into an environmentally sustainable and climate-smart facility in Bangladesh.
