In his closing remarks, Mr. Ranjit Kumar Barman stated: โFarmers in the coastal belt constantly struggle with salinity, cyclones, and drought. Cultivating salt-tolerant rice varieties will be a blessing for themโensuring both food security and economic stability.โ
Speakers highlighted that soil salinity remains a major challenge to coastal agriculture. Promoting salt-tolerant rice seed production is therefore essential to protect farmersโ livelihoods, enhance adaptive capacity, and ensure sustainable food security for vulnerable coastal communities.
